Comenius Motion:

Equal chances of Member States in terms of access to the use of New Technologies in the classroom

What are the new Technologies?

They are not just technological advances, but tools that lead us to a new method of learning and interaction.
New technologies are very important today.  All citizens should know them, and know how to use them.
What do we use them for?
  • These new technologies lead us to a new form of interaction between teacher/student , which would be enriched by numerous forms of communication between them.
  • They help to capture the attention of the student, counting with amazing applications, which will help the student, and,
  • They will make easier its study.
Technologies and the environment

Taking into account the objectives of this proposal: one of the primary benefits that encourage the use of technology is saving natural resources.  This demand is higher than ever.  Spain consumes about 7 million tons of paper per year. Much of this paper is used in schools.  Fortunately, 70% of this paper is manufactured in Spain, and made from waste paper and recycled fibers. But the rest comes from wood from forests.

The daily use of paper causes serious environmental consequences. For this reason, 370 cm3 of clean water are used to produce each sheet of white paper.
The high production of a thousand kilos of white paper involves the consumption of 100,000 liters of water. This highly contaminated water is poured into rivers.
The use of technology in the centers would reduce improper use of paper, thus helping the reforestation of forests.  Approximately 15 Km2 of rain forest disappear of the Earth every minute every day. Therefore, we must seize part of living on the planet wealth, because that could enter into high-impact in the future, such as over-exploitation of timber resources that will harm, in this case, the next generations.

The technology has many benefits, as well as many disadvantages, such as environmental consequences. Industries generate toxic waste in huge amounts that are highly dangerous for the environment.  Electronic devices are made with many materials, if not recycled properly, it affects in the same way as toxic waste.  Another disadvantage is that the extreme consumption is addictive.
Most people rely on electronic items like computers, which store documents that are so important and in many cases these documents are lost due to system failures.  Just like a computer, if other electronic devices fail we cannot live a normal lifestyle without them.  This addiction can be very harmful to people.  We spend too many hours using electronic devices that make life easier, but they can also lead to problems such as lesions in determined areas of the body, discomfort, fatigue, etc...
We should mention the danger of the Internet, especially for youth too.  We use the Internet to search for virtually all types of information, to connect with other people and to find entertainment, but there are many dangers such as viruses, spam, falling victim to theft of personal data, or harassment.  To avoid this, we should recycle properly and be committed, be aware of the consequences of excessive use of electronic devices and be cautious when surfing the Internet.
Objectives of this proposal
  1. Introduce the multimedia learning method in all the schools of Europe
  2. Improve the study´s response, especially about students with difficulties
  3. Adapt current and future generations in the technological advances
  4. Support students with learning difficulties
  5. Provide the same opportunities for students with physical and mental difficulties
  6. Reduce paper consumption, contributing to ecological environment
  7. Promote communication between students and teachers
  8. Reduce the risk factor for school failure
  9. Improve the immediate access to the content. (Access to all the content, anywhere in the world)
  10. Give teachers a tool to create their own books, notes or work to share with all students
Scope of use
-Agreement with aims in this minute, in European Parliament of Poland 2012, we present the areas to perform:
-Education: High Schools, Schools, Special centers, and kindergarten
-Social: Students and teachers
All in all, we don´t want to forget books, because they form part of our history.  We want to develop the method of learning without changing the content, preparing the future generations for new technologies.
