Badajoz
was founded
in the IX century, during the Muslim domination of the Iberian
Peninsula.
Abd
al-Rahmán Ibn
Marwan El Chilliqui founded Badajoz in 875.
Badajoz
was settled in
a strategic place, by the bank of the Guadiana river on top of a
small hill.
In
the pass, Badajoz was called Batalyaws.
Badajoz
city was the capital of a Muslim kingdom, call also Badajoz. It
became one of the largest kingdoms in the peninsula. It included the
all Extremadura and parts of Portugal, included Lisboa.
